Creating team meetings
What happened?
Cláudia and Vera explained their 3-part weekly meetings for a development team doing maintenance of a discontinued product.
- Meeting starts with a “light” video to get participants relaxed and to foster team building.
- Meeting moves to discuss past and future work, assigning work items to team members.
- Meeting finishes with a show of cards where team members raise issues.
- Green card for good news (like finishing earlier)
- Yellow card for things to improve
- Red card for issues needing immediate attention.
Joaquim explained how his documentation team has used different kinds of meetings over time.
- Yearly retrospective meetings focusing on team improvement have suggested most ideas for uScrum.
- Yearly strategy meetings focus on long-term improvements.
- Sprint meetings changed as the team and the work changed, ranging from simple monthly meetings to an elaborate set of single-purpose meetings.
- Work review meetings where team members present significant work to each other have been very successful, especially for new team members.
- Last year, team members praised the team meetings as interesting.
Discussion then moved to good and bad teams in general, with examples of seemingly dysfunctional teams.
